Opticlox Eye Ointment 16.7% w/w is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye in horses, cattle, sheep, cats and dogs. Normally a single application only is needed, but treatment can be repeated after two or three days.
How does Opticlox Eye Ointment 16.7% w/w work?
The active ingredient is Cloxacillin Benzathine, a type of penicillin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Impetigo, boils and cellulitis can be caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus. The area can be painful and tender and may be red or swollen too.
For animals with one eye infected it is recommended that both eyes are treated, to prevent any cross infection. Always treat the uninfected eye first to avoid any infection transfer. Each syringe should be used only once.
