What is Frontline PLUS Spot-on for Cats?
Frontline PLUS Spot-on for Cats is an effective medicine used to kill fleas and ticks and treat infestations of biting lice. It is the most advanced formula in the Frontline range (the original spot-on formula used by vets). It works to kill fleas, and also stops their eggs from hatching and therefore stops them from spreading in your home.
The solution works rapidly to provide quick relief from flea and tick infestations. It kills ticks within 48 hours and fleas within 24 hours and it even helps to reduce the risk of tick-borne diseases. The solution is also effective at killing lice and can be used on kittens from 8 weeks of age and/or weighing above 1kg.
For year-round protection, be sure to use Frontline PLUS Spot-on for Cats on a monthly basis to avoid and prevent further parasitic infestations.
Frontline PLUS Spot-on for Cats comes as a pre-filled pipette of solution, designed to be applied directly to the skin. The medicine has been developed specifically for cats. If you are looking to treat a parasitic infestation in a dog then be sure to request Frontline for Dogs instead.
How does Frontline PLUS Spot-on for Cats work?
The active ingredients in Frontline PLUS Spot-on for Cats are Fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Fipronil is the active ingredient in other Frontline products, and it works to over-stimulate the nervous system of the parasite on contact. It works to kill 98-100% of adult fleas within the first 24 hours and keeps working for up to 5 weeks in cats.
The addition of (S)-methoprene in Frontline PLUS helps the treatment to not only eliminate adult fleas, but also their eggs, larvae and pupae to prevent multiplication.
Instructions for Frontline PLUS Spot-on for Cats
When you receive the medication, it’s important to read and understand the dosage instructions. The strength and dose of the medication may depend on the size of your cat.
Always use medications as directed. The content of a full pipette needs to be applied directly to your cat’s skin, so begin by parting their fur. Apply the solution to your cat’s neck, just at the base of the skull. This is because it’s important to apply the solution to an area that your cat cannot lick.
If you have more than one pet, ensure that animals do not groom each other until after the treatment has dried. Apply the solution every 4 weeks for ongoing flea and tick protection.
Important: Do not use on rabbits as this could cause severe side effects or even death.
