What are Vitamin K1 film-coated tablets for Dogs

Vitamin K1 film-coated tablets for Dogs are used to treat anticoagulant poisoning which may come after parenteral treatment (Intravenous infusion) in dogs. It is for oral use only. 

Give 5mg phytomenadione per kg body weight each day, which means 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight on each day and one every day for a period of 21 days, when adhering to the information in this table:

For dogs weighing under 2.5kg, the dose is a ¼ of a tablet

For dogs weighing between 2.5kg and 5kg, the dose is ½ a tablet

For dogs weighing between 5kg and 7.5kg, the dose is ¾ of a tablet

For dogs weighing between 7.5kg and 10kg, the dose is 1 tablet  

It is preferred the treatment is used in animals which have not been fasting. Treatment should be undertaken within 12 hours after the emergency treatment has finished by the intravenous route (two intravenous injections of 5mg vitamin K1 per kg of body weight given 12 hours apart). 

How do Vitamin K1 film-coated tablets for Dogs work?

The active ingredient is phytonadione which functions by replacing Vitamin K1, a vitamin which is needed for the synthesis of blood coagulation factors.

It is important that as soon as you receive and open the medication, you read and understand the instructions, especially on the recommended dose. The tablets are for oral use only with food and should not be administered in any other manner. Contact your vet to get full and detailed instructions on dosage.
