What are Tiacil Ophthalmic Drops?

Tiacil Ophthalmic Drops is used in the treatment of eye infections in dogs, cats and rabbits. Such eye infections, which are bacterial and such as conjunctivitis, are common in animals. 

Treatment with Tiacil Ophthalmic Drops is a solution which can help reduce reddening and irritation linked to the condition by taking action to soothe the hypromellose base. When applied as directed by your vet, the active ingredient, gentamicin, is a safe and effective treatment of acute bacterial eye infections. 

How do Tiacil Ophthalmic Drops work?

The active ingredient gentamicin sulphate is a broad spectrum antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group. Tiacil ophthalmic drops are suitable for the treatment of conjunctivitis, blepharitis and keratoconjunctivitis and also anterior uveitis, in dogs, cats and rabbits.

Ophthalmic medications which contain antibiotics are commonly used to treat eye infections to control any bacterial infection. Anti-inflammatories in turn help to reduce any swelling or inflammation. The vet may also recommend gently wiping the eyes with a sterile eyewash on a cotton pad or cotton ball, especially if any discharge is causing the eyes to crust over. 

How to use Tiacil Ophthalmic Drops 

As soon as you open the medication, it is important that you read the instructions and get an understanding of the contents, especially with regard to the recommended dose. 

This is an eye drop suspension and is for use in the eyes of your dog, cat or rabbit only. Do not use it elsewhere on your pet. The correct dosage is important and you should be advised by your vet on the correct dose.
