What are Stomorgyl Film-Coated Tablets
Stomorgyl Film-Coated Tablets are suitable for the treatment of gum disease and any related bacterial periodontal and oral conditions in cats and dogs. The tablets are given orally and should not be crushed.
For dogs and cats, the dose is 23.4 mg spiramycin and 12.5 mg metronidazole per kilogram body weight, once a day for up to five to ten days.
Stomorgyl 2mg: 1 tablet per 2kg body weight once a day for five to ten days.
Stomorgyl 10mg: 1 tablet per 10kg body weight once a day for five to ten days.
Stomorgyl 20mg: equivalent to 1 tablet per 20kg body weight once a day for five to ten days.
How do Stomorgyl Film-Coated Tablets work?
One of the active ingredients is metronidazole, an antimicrobial which kills microorganisms or halts their growth. It works by penetrating the bacteria, leading to a reduction of its effect on the body. The other active ingredient is spiramycin and is commonly administered to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. This medication is known as a macrolide antibiotic and stops the bacteria’s growth.
How to use Stomorgyl Film-Coated Tablets
It is important that as soon as you receive and open the medication, you read and understand the instructions, especially on the recommended dose. The tablets are for oral use only with food and should not be administered in any other manner. Contact your vet to get full and detailed instructions on dosage.
