Description

What are Norodine Equine Oral Paste

Norodine Equine Oral Paste is recommended for use to treat bacterial diseases in horses. These include infections of the alimentary tract, such as diarrhoea, and respiratory infections including pleurisy, pneumonia, wounds and septicaemia.

Adjust the screw gauge on the ‘dial a dose’ syringe to the body weight of your horse. Remove the cap from the nozzle. Place the nozzle in the corner of your horse’s mouth. Depress plunger and make sure it is deposited on the upper surface of the tongue.

Treatment should be administered for up to five days or until two days after symptoms have gone or as your veterinary surgeon recommends. Each syringe contains one daily dose for a 500kg horse and each division on the ‘dial a dose’ syringe has enough medicine to treat 50 kg of body weight.

Please follow the dosage recommended by your veterinary surgeon.

How does Norodine Equine Oral Paste work?

Norodine Equine Oral Paste contains the active ingredients sulfadiazine (sulphadiazine) and trimethoprim. Sulfadiazine is a bacteriostatic antibiotic which means it works by preventing the bacteria from producing protein and also reproducing. Trimethoprim is a reductase inhibitor which also hinders the creation of proteins in the cell wall of the bacteria.  The two ingredients, when combined, increase the potency of the antibacterial action on the infection.

How to use Norodine Equine Oral Paste

It is important that as soon as you receive and open the medication, you read and understand the instructions, especially on the recommended dose. The tablets are for oral use only with food and should not be administered in any other manner. Contact your vet to get full and detailed instructions on dosage.
