Metacam Chewable Tablets for Dogs is Metacam Chewable Tablets for Dogs are used to alleviate pain and inflammation in chronic and acute chronic musculo-skeletal disorders in dogs. The active ingredient is Meloxicam. The chewable tablets are for dogs and can be divided in two. They come in 1mg and 2.5mg strengths.

Each tablet can be split in two for accurate dosage, depending on the weight of your dog. Metacam chewable tablets can be given with food or without food. They are flavoured and are usually taken by dogs voluntarily. 

The use of the alternative Metacam oral suspension for dogs could be considered for more precise dosing if needed. If your dog weighs below 4kg, then using Metacam oral suspension for dogs is recommended.

A clinical response is mostly seen after three to four days. Treatment should be halted after ten days at the very latest if no clinical improvement is seen.

How do Metacam Chewable Tablets for Dogs work?

The active ingredient is meloxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It acts by inhibiting the prostaglandin synthesis. These prostaglandins are substances which trigger the inflammation, pain and fever, so the meloxicam has the effect of reducing those responses.
