Metacam Oral Suspension is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine suitable for certain animals, including cats and guinea pigs. Its active ingredient is meloxicam which is used to manage inflammatory pain. Metacam is often prescribed after orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery in cats to reduce pain and associated inflammation.
It can be prescribed to manage the pain and inflammation caused by acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions in cats. For guinea pigs, it is prescribed after soft tissue surgery such as the removal of lumps. It is available in a variety of dosages to be taken as per your vet’s advice, usually daily.
