What are Fungiconazol Tablets for Dogs?

Fungiconazol Tablets for Dogs are used for treating serious fungal infections in dogs. It is for oral use with a dose of 10mg of the ketoconazole per kilogram of body weight each day. This equates to one tablet per 20kg body weight daily.

It is recommended to check and test the animal monthly during the treatment and stop administering the antifungal after two negative cultures are recorded. If lesions occur after eight weeks of the treatment, the medication should be re-evaluated by a vet. 

It is preferred that the medicine is administered along with food to maximise absorption. Tablets can be divided into halves or quarters to ensure accurate dosing.

Treatment should not be limited to the animals infected. The dog’s living environment should be disinfected as the spores can survive for long periods. Frequent vacuuming is  recommended as well as disinfecting any of your dog’s grooming equipment in current use. 

How do Fungiconazol Tablets for Dogs work?

The active ingredient is Ketoconazole, a wide-ranging antifungal agent which comes from a imidazole-dioxolane compound, which exerts a sporicidal fungistatic effect on dermatophytes in dogs.
