Equisolon 33mg/g Oral Powder for Horses is an anti-inflammatory preparation used to alleviate swelling and the clinical parameters related to RAO or recurrent obstruction of the airways in horses. It comes in a 180g or 504g jar and is an oral powder.
A single dose of 1mg of prednisolone per kg of body weight each day corresponds to three grams of the oral powder for each 100kg of body weight. The treatment for your horse can be repeated at 24-hour intervals and over ten days which should be consecutive.
The dose should be mixed up into small pieces of food. Use the measuring spoon enclosed with the medicine. The following dosing table applies where one spoon is equal to 4.6g of powder:
For horses weighing 150 to 300kg, the dosage is 2 spoons
For horses weighing 300 to 450kg, the dosage is 3 spoons
For horses weighing 450 to 600kg, the dosage is 4 spoons
For horses weighing 600 to 750kg, the dosage is 6 spoons
For horses weighing 750 to 1000kg, the dosage is 7 spoons
