Description

What is Equipalazone?

Equipalazone is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which is a category of painkiller. This medication contains phenylbutazone and is specifically for use in horses, especially those with lameness and chronic musculo-skeletal conditions. This includes conditions such as osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), bursitis and carpitis.

This medication is also antipyretic, which means that it works to reduce fever. The effective painkilling and anti-inflammatory properties make it suitable to relieve pain and swelling post-surgery too.

It’s available as either an oral paste or an oral powder to allow for choice and easy administration to your horse. This medication is specifically for horses. If you are looking to treat another animal then you should seek a suitable alternative.

How does Equipalazone work?

The active ingredient in Equipalazone is phenylbutazone, which is categorised as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Pain in the body is caused when you synthesise prostaglandins and a response is triggered by the brain, giving the sensation of pain.

Phenylbutazone works to inhibit this process, to effectively block pain signals and prevent the feeling. It also works to reduce inflammation (caused by an existing condition or by surgery) and reduces fever too.

Instructions for Equipalazone

When you receive the medication, it’s important to read and understand the dosage instructions. The strength and dose of the medicine will depend on the size of your horse and the exact details of their condition.

The medicine should be given orally, whether you opt for the paste or the powder. You should not give this medicine within 24 hours of giving another NSAID painkiller or a corticosteroid to your horse. You should check with your vet if you’re unsure. You should also seek advice from your vet if your horse is pregnant or lactating.

Equipalazone cannot be used in animals intended for human consumption. Horses must be signed out of the food chain on their passport.

You should use this product as directed by your veterinary surgeon.

How to order Equipalazone

Equipalazone is a prescription-only medication, which means you will first need a valid prescription from a vet before your order will be dispatched. You can still add the item to your basket, checkout and pay but we won’t be able to send the order out until we’ve received the prescription.

Start by getting a prescription from a vet and then place your order for the recommended medication. Our team will check the prescription against the item ordered to ensure its suitability. Once this has been approved, your order will be dispatched from our pharmacy to your chosen delivery method.
