What is Emeprid?
Emeprid is a medication for both dogs and cats, the product helps to treat nausea, vomiting, and acid reflux in dogs and cats which are suffering from these symptoms.
It works by helping food to move more quickly through the upper digestive tract thus clearing food and bile that has built up in the animal’s stomach which can cause nausea and vomiting. It comes in a bottle size of 125ml, which can be administered to the animal orally.
Emeprid is a medicine which can be used for both cats and dogs. It is used to treat vomiting and a sluggish digestive system in the animals, which is linked to conditions such as gastritis, digestive intolerance to some drugs and spasms of the pyloric sphincter within the large intestine.
It contains the active ingredient Metoclopramide, which is an antiemetic and is given to help with the quick passage of food through the upper digestive tract of the animal. It may be used to treat disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract such as acid reflux disease.
It can also be used for pets that have a chronic vomiting problem due to a sluggish digestive system. Metoclopramide causes the animal’s stomach to empty by speeding up the passage of the food and bile into the lower intestine.
Emeprid is an antiemetic, which means that it is effective in treating nausea and vomiting but is also a gastrointestinal (GI) prokinetic which helps to promote muscle contractions to promote transit within the small and large intestines in the animal.
How does Emeprid work?
Emeprid works in two different ways. Firstly, it increases the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that motor neurons of the nervous system release in order to activate muscles. This, in turn, activates the smooth muscles in the upper digestive tract to contract more frequently (a process known as motility) causing food to pass through more quickly and thus reducing symptoms of nausea and vomiting caused by food remaining in the stomach for longer than normal.
It also works as an antiemetic, which means that it also works within the central nervous system of the animal and blocks the mental signals for nausea. It works by blocking the D2 receptors in the animals’ central nervous system, preventing nausea and vomiting triggered by most stimuli.
What are the benefits of Emeprid?
Nausea and vomiting are uncomfortable and distressing symptoms for your animal and they can reduce the animal’s quality of life if left untreated. Emprepid works within the upper intestine to reduce these symptoms. It speeds up the contraction of the smooth muscles within the upper digestive tract, which in turn, aids gut motility, leading to better passage of food through the digestive system. All of these factors can promote good digestive help.
