It is a synthetic pyrethroid or insecticide to effectively kill the parasites that live on the bodies of horses and ponies. It is important to dilute this solution and each single litre of Deosect should always be diluted with 50 litres of water just before use.
How does Deosect 5% w/v Concentrate for Cutaneous Spray Solution work?
The active ingredient is Cypermethrin and it behaves as a fast-acting neurotoxin on the flies and lice. The ectoparasiticide is for use as a solution and is sprayed all over the animal’s body, taking great care to cover it all.
A knapsack, sponge or hand sprayer can be used to apply the solution. Users should avoid spraying directly into the animal’s eyes.
It is recommended to use these amounts: For adult horses, 500ml of diluted solution per animal. For ponies, 125ml of diluted solution per animal. For lice control, apply when they are first spotted, and repeat as necessary at a minimum interval of 14 days.
