What is Compagel for Horses?
Compagel for Horses is prescribed for horses with localised inflammatory lesions. These are namely associated with conditions such as bursitis and tenosynovitis, but it’s suitable to treat a number of different bruised or swollen lesions that often result from injury. These can affect the ligaments, tendons or muscles and can cause your horse pain and discomfort, reducing their mobility and performance.
Compagel relieves pain and has a mild cooling effect to offer your horse relief at the site of inflammation. It’s easy to use and gets to work quickly when massaged into the affected area. This is usually done once a day but is most effective when applied several times daily (as long as the dose doesn’t exceed 50g).
How does Compagel for Horses work?
The active ingredients in Compagel for Horses are Heparin, Hydroxyethyl salicylate and Levomenthol (local anaesthetic, antipruritic). Heparin is antithrombotic, which means that it can stop blood clots from forming or prevent existing blood clots from growing. Hydroxyethyl is an anti-inflammatory, so it targets the inflammation at the source and is also an analgesic so it fights pain. Levomenthol is a local anaesthetic, so it provides a mild numbing effect on the lesion to reduce pain and itchiness.
