What are Comfortis Chewable Flea Tablets for Dogs and Cats?
Comfortis Chewable Flea Tablets for Dogs and Cats are used for the prevention and treatment of fleas in dogs up to 72kg in weight and in cats up to 8.5kg and over. They should prevent further re-infestations for up to four weeks. They are chewable but if the dog or cat does not eat the tablets directly, they can be administered with food, or directly into the mouth by opening the animal’s mouth and putting the tablet on to the back of its tongue.
The veterinary medicinal product can also be used as part of the treatment for controlling flea allergy dermatitis.
How do Comfortis Chewable Flea Tablets for Dogs and Cats work?
The active ingredient is Spinosad which attacks the nervous system of any insects that eats or touches it and it affects their muscles, making them flex in an uncontrollable way. This leads to total paralysis and death, usually in one to two days. The preventative effect is a result of the medication killing the adult fleas and the resultant reduction in the production of eggs.
How to use Comfortis Chewable Flea Tablets for Dogs and Cats?
It is important that as soon as you receive and open the medication, you read and understand the instructions, especially on the recommended dose. The chewable tablets are for oral use only and should not be administered in any other manner.

The tablets come in eight sizes, depending on the size of your pet: 90mg, 140mg, 180mg, 270mg, 425mg, 665mg, 1040mg and 1620mg.
