What is Clindaseptin? 

Clindaseptin is a prescription only veterinary antibiotic medication which can be used to treat dogs suffering from dental infections, wounds which have become infected, abscesses, and infections in the upper layers of the skin. Clindaseptin can also be used to during dental procedures to help provide antibiotic protection against bacteria.

Clindaseptin comes in a capsule form to be administered to your dog orally. It contains the active ingredient Clindamycin which is an antibiotic. Please follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinary surgeon, but as a rule the required dosage is 5.5 mg/kg bodyweight. 

Clindaseptin is available in three different strengths of 75mg, 150mg and 300mg.

How does Clindaseptin work?

Clindaseptin is an antibiotic medicine containing the active ingredient Clindamycin, which works by stopping the growth of bacteria at the site of infection in your dog. It acts upon the bacteria that is present in the dog, stopping it from producing more protein within the cell and thus growing and in some cases killing the bacteria completely.

Clindamycin works quickly because it is rapidly absorbed. Once administered to your dog studies have shown that up to 90% of the active ingredient clindamycin is absorbed by the dog from its gastro-intestinal tract.

It is important to note that a different treatment approach should be considered if no therapeutic effect is observed after four days.

It is important that as soon as you receive and open the medication, you read and understand the instructions, especially on the recommended dose. The capsules are for oral use only and should not be administered in any other manner. It is important that the recommended dosage is the one as instructed by your vet.
