Butagran Equi is used to treat horses with musculo-skeletal conditions. It is designed to offer both a reduction in inflammation and pain relief, particularly where continued mobility is desirable. It may also be prescribed to treat post-surgical inflammation and other soft tissue inflammation.
The medicine can also be used as an antipyretic if recommended by a vet. This could be used, for example, for viral respiratory infections. It is not to be used in food producing animals

The active ingredient in Butagran Equi is Phenylbutazone, which works by inhibiting the body from synthesising substances that facilitate pain and trigger inflammatory responses. It can also suppress the substance that causes a fever, which is why the medicine has a number of benefits.

Do not give within 24 hours of giving a corticosteroid or another NSAID, and if you’re unsure as to whether this includes other medications you may be giving your horse then check with your vet first.
